A 10-month (full-time) certificate program that will prepare students to work alongside teachers and education professionals supporting the cognitive, psychological, social and emotional development of children and adolescents who have a wide range of exceptionalities. This certificate is designed for community members, and those aspiring to careers in education as an education assistant.This certificate offers a face-to-face program specializing in teaching students various types of interventions and supports for students who attend K-12 schools.

The courses in the program have been adapted to reflect and emphasize Blackfoot knowledge, culture, and ways of being and learning.
Transferable between post-secondary institutions
Complete the first 2 years at RCCC and an additional 2-3 years at the University of Lethbridge.

Is there funding for the Niitsitapi Education Assistant Certificate Program?
There are a few ways that learners can apply to receive for funding. Contact your band for eligible post-secondary funding and / or contact Blood Tribe Employment Services.
What is the course load for the NEAC program?
There are a total of 11 courses within the NEACP. There is an orientation / block course at the beginning of the program, followed by 5 courses in the fall semester and 4 courses in the winter semester. The summer session of May / June consists of the final practicum course.
When do we do the practicums?
There are two practicums for the NEACP; the first is in the winter semester which is mainly focused on observation. The second practicum is your final course which is held during the summer session of May / June.
I don’t have internet what do I do, or can I attend online?
The program has been developed for in person / face-to-face delivery, however it can be adapted to move to an online delivery format in the event of Covid-19 issues arise. Students will be given a laptop to assist with remote learning. The R.C.C.C. has internet and students are welcome to use the Wi-Fi if need be.
What type of supports will I have access to?
R.C.C.C. students and staff will have access to meet and build relationships with our Kaahsinooniksi Elders Advisory Council as well as our Counsellors in the post-secondary department to assist and ensure that all learners successfully complete the program.
