Red Crow Community College is a First Nations college with locations in Standoff and Lethbridge. Our mission is to meet the cultural, educational, and training needs for Kainaiwa and beyond. We seek an Environmental Science Instructor to instruct 2 courses.
Course 1: Environmental Site Assessment responsibilities include field trips to various ecological sites and classroom instruction. The incumbent must have instructional expertise in the following areas: principles and assessment techniques for environmental impacts and stressors. Instruct students about data interpretation, facts affecting reliability and the correct use of sampling equipment.
Course 2: Aerial Photography/ Geographical Positioning System requires significant walking outdoors in changing weather conditions to collect on-site data. GPS navigation to various site locations and record features in the field. The Instructor will teach measurement instruments in the field, taking notes and sketching to collect site information. In addition, demonstrate how data is processed for mapping selected coordinate systems and how to acquire land information from survey plans and air photos.
Instructors require a minimum of a master’s degree in environmental science, ecology or a closely related discipline. Candidates close to completion of a MSc. or PhD will be considered. The instructor is expected to be personable, well-informed on the topic area, and effective at communicating in both speaking and writing. The instructor must work both independently and in collaboration with others.
Course delivery is in the Winter semester (January 6 - April 30).
